Never Fail Biscuits

  • 1 cup warm water
    2 pkgs. of yeast
    3 tbsp. sugar
    3/4 cup salad oil
    2 cups Swiss Valley Farms buttermilk
    1 tsp. baking soda
    5 cups of self-rising flour

    Mix together 1 cup warm water, 2 pkgs. of yeast and 3 tbsp. sugar. When yeast dissolves, add 3/4 cup salad oil, 2 cups buttermilk and 1 tsp. soda and mix well. Add 5 cups of self-rising flour. Put in a covered bowl and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight. Stir slightly and dip out with a spoon onto a floured board. Work with hands to form a biscuit. Bake at 450?F for 10 to 13 minutes, or until golden brown. Remaining dough can be kept, covered, in refrigerator for a week.
