06/02/2010

Swiss Valley Farms leadership is pleased to announce exciting new developments within the cooperative.

The upgrading and expansion of our plant in Luana, Iowa is underway with completion of the construction of a new silo alcove and installation of new milk processing equipment. The next phase will begin within 3 to 4 months and includes planning for the expansion of the plant's footprint and the development of new process and innovation/modifications. Targets for the next twelve months and beyond will feature additional new equipment and further innovations/improvements. We're pleased that we've already increased employment in this plant, and we're enjoying 20% increased production.

Another development is the sale of our Dalbo, Minnesota plant which does not process any member milk. The Dalbo plant has been focused on packaging of hard Italian cheeses. DairiConcepts of Springfield, Missouri, has purchased the Dalbo facility and related hard Italian cheese business. The sale is immediate.

New opportunities are within our grasp. We will continue to focus on our commitments to member-owners and our company goals in a financially sound manner. Commitment to our member-owners, devotion to our customers, dedication to our employees and a strong commitment to our company's growth remain core components of our business strategy.
