|Swiss Valley Farms Sells Dubuque Facility|
|Buyer Licenses Brand|
Dubuque, Iowa --- Swiss Valley Farms, Co., a four-state cooperative owned and controlled by dairy producers, announces the sale of its Dubuque milk bottling plant.
"As our customer base continues to consolidate to gain market share and improve operating efficiencies, our dairy beverage business has been challenged to supply customers who have a significant regional or national market presence. The Dubuque plant will become part of a larger network of facilities owned by Prairie Farms, another successful farmer-owned co-op," said Don Boelens, CEO, Swiss Valley Farms. "As a result, Swiss Valley Farms' products will be positioned well for future growth and success in significant regional and national markets."
Swiss Valley Farms licensing agreement with Prairie Farms will maintain the company's producers, standards and labeling. "There won't be change at all for our excellent producer-owners, or for our loyal customers," Boelens said, "and the remainder of our business model is still very strong. This transaction will allow us to place additional resources and focus on our cheese business. For all of our 50-year history, Swiss Valley Farms has been and remains farmer-owned; we're involved in the communities in which we serve, and our heritage is very much about people and delivering a premium product to consumers. None of that will change."
